Sometimes there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to get everything done.
Today I rack mounted a server, created a new desktop image, scheduled 2 contractors, and attended a meeting I had no purpose being at. These are the best meetings to attend because no one expects you to contribute in any meaningful way but you still get to snag a bagel on the way out. Except, given that I am currently cleaning up nearly a decade of the previous sysadmin’s neglect and overgrowth in the server farm I came out of a meeting I shouldn’t even have been at with a handful of new projects to add to the stack that is already as long as my arm and for which I have exactly $0 budget, and I didn’t even take a bagel.
Dammit.
To mark the T-minus 8-week date of our Mudder, we bit the bullet and joined a gym. Our apartment complex has a “fitness center” but that is apparently synonymous with a “sit on the one bench and take endless selfies” center. Given my aforementioned complete and utter lack of any semblance of upper body strength (while still somehow maintaining the lower body strength of a dray horse. I don’t know how.) this is an irreconcilable inconvenience. Seth has been… indifferent in his gym attendance. I, on the other hand:

I guess I shouldn’t call Seth indifferent. He did fall while ice fishing a few months ago and damaged his knee. He’s alright, but is having some trouble training on it. He’s also working at a pizza place so you can pretty much assume he’s not exactly eating clean. I may or may not have contributed to that by buying him 2 cases of spicy Korean mi goreng noodles. I did that from a place of love, honestly, but I doubt it’s helped. He is making an effort and that’s all I can really ask of him. I’ve been prepping my breakfast and lunch for work for a few weeks (mainly to avoid pizza). You’d think at this point I’d be pretty sick of spinach.

I must say, if nothing else, that it has saved me a boatload of lunch money. This time of year is particularly tough to stay on track being BBQ, boats, and beers season so any leg up I can give myself is going to be useful.
