AMBER: The Great Job Shuffle

A teeny-tiny update about a relatively large upheaval.

After much consideration and debate, I made the decision to break my ten-year streak of civil service. There were a lot of influencing factors including commute time, economic uncertainty, and meager pay but in the end, it came down to no longer being able to defend my decision to be a government employee in light of certain orange individuals who shall remain unnamed.

I’m still undergoing training in my new position, but the long and the short of it is technical support in a UNIX-based cloud and data lake environment. I hate to break it to those who don’t already know this, but there’s no such thing as the cloud. All the cloud is is space on someone else’s hard drive. I’ll maintain the connection to those hard drives when the time comes for me to start my role properly.

So that’s that, then.

So long government. Hello Dell.
