I’ve been laying low for a few days. That’s not to say I haven’t been training, I have, but I’ve been so freaking tired lately that I can either go to the gym or write about how amazing I am for going to the gym. I can’t do both.
Well, I suppose I could, but I haven’t been. So there.
I’ve been using a training app (of course there’s an app for that) to build my running stamina back up. It’s one I’m sure everyone has probably heard of by now; C25k. I’m starting Week 6 tonight which means I’m almost done with it. Like it says on the tin, by the end of 8 weeks you’re supposed to be able to run a 5k (that’s 3.1 miles in freedom units) but few people actually make it there in the 30 minutes allotted by the app. I won’t either, but I know my 5k time used to be around the 32 minute mark, so I’m not too worried about it. After week 8 is up I’ve got to do a few 3-4 mile runs a week for about a month before I move on to the longer B210k app. It’s a 10k training app obviously.
Progress on that front has been steady. That’s not surprising considering my history with running. Progress on the upper body strength front however has . . . stalled.

I blame this partially on myself, obviously, but in large part also on the obnoxious, self-obsessed dudes who use our tiny weight room to do half a dozen dumbbell rows and then spend 40 minutes taking fucking selfies. I’ve done everything short of physical violence to rustle them out of there like cows but it’s as effective as herding stuffed cats. Blasting Pat Benatar at them worked the last time, but completely killed my desire to do anything but crimp my hair and start a tribute band.
I may have to bite the bullet and get an actual gym membership. How annoying is that?!
Anyway, here’s Wednesday’s run:
